The day the Grammy nominations were announced was a day Mariah Carey will never forget.
"I didn't even know that I was gonna get, when I got one, I was, like, wow, this is a really great moment, this is, this is amazing, to be here, and then when they told me it was eight, I was, like, are you serious?" Mariah gushed.
Indeed, Mariah is on fire! In a Sinatra-style comeback, the reborn Mariah nailed eight nominations for "The Emancipation of Mimi" and was visibly affected by the news, which she shared with Peter Castro, executive editor of People magazine.
"You seemed really emotional up there," Peter said.
"You know what, it's been an emotional ride, and when I say that, I mean my life," Mariah explained.
Of course, there are always surprises when the nominations are announced. One of the big ones is that two of this year's top sellers – Coldplay and 50 Cent – were shut out of the major categories, as was Eminem.
But few can argue that the day belonged to "Miss M." With two months and counting until the big show, it begs the questionÂ…
"Who are you gonna bring?" Peter asked Mariah.
"Well, dogs aren't allowed, so I can't bring Jack, so I'll have to figure it out," Mariah laughed.
Well, with or without Jack, check out Mariah at the GrammyÂ’s are Feb. 8 on CBS.
